‘Dan Mintner: Badass for Hire’ Back in Play for New Line

New Line's "Dan Mintner: Badass for Hire" project has been in works since 2008

New Line Cinema's long-languishing “Dan Mintner: Badass for Hire” project is moving forward with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson loosely attached and the studio eyeing a 2013 start date, an individual familiar with the project told TheWrap.

“Dan Mintner,” based on the spec script by Chad Kultgen, has been in development since 2008. 

The comedy revolves around a character who is described as the ultimate badass and becomes embroiled in a kidnapping drama.

Johnson is also attached to New Line's "Journey 3,” a sequel to this year's release “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” with Brian Gunn and Mark Gunn writing the script, which should shoot next year.

“Dan Mintner” is set up at New Line with Contrafilm, Flynn Picture Company and Vinson Films producing.
