Watch out, Dani Mathers; if the court of public opinion has anything to say about it, you might have a date with the judge soon.

A Change.org petition demanding the arrest of Playboy Playmate Dani Mathers — who sparked widespread outrage last week after she took a photograph of a nude, unwitting woman at her gym, then posted the image on Snapchat with a mocking caption — is rapidly approaching its signature goal.

As of this writing, the petition, which was launched five days ago, has amassed more than 28,000 signatures, with a goal of 35,000.

“While Ms. Mathers has since apologized for her offense she needs to be brought to court with criminal charges as she has committed a criminal act,” the petition, launched by Brooklyn resident Jessica Perez, reads. “Her act affects the community in that people do not feel safe changing or showering in what should be a safe and private environment.”

The Los Angeles Police Department is in fact investigating the matter for the possible crime of disseminating private images.

Mathers suffered massive backlash from the public last week, after she published a photo of a nude woman at an L.A. Fitness gym on Snapchat with the caption, “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either.”

The model did not say what about the woman’s appearance she found objectionable but the photo suggests someone who may not meet Playboy norms for svelteness.

Mathers later apologized, but was still savaged on social media. She’s also suffered real-world repercussions. In addition to the ongoing police investigation, Mathers was fired from her gig with Los Angeles radio station KLOS, where she was a regular on the station’s morning show.

Playboy has not responded to TheWrap’s request for comment on the matter.
