Look, “Community” fans, we know you got your sixth season, but you never got your movie. However, you can continue to hold out hope that one day Dan Harmon’s vision will hit the silver screen. After all, Danny Pudi tells TheWrap he’s still down. And so is director Bobcat Goldthwait.
“Yes, absolutely,” Pudi said Thursday during the Television Critics Association press tour, while the two were discussing working together on truTV’s upcoming anthology series “Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters.” “I’ve told Dan [Harmon] multiple times — we have a text chain — we’re ready for the movie! So yeah, absolutely.”
Well, someone should let creator Harmon (who told TheWrap in November he is still “trying” to make the movie happen) know that he may have a director all lined up too.
“Yes,” Goldthwait told TheWrap, when asked if he’d roll camera for the long-awaited film, as he did direct an installment of the original series. “So, we better call Dan,” he added, laughing.
Pudi and Goldthwait met for the first time while shooting the Season 6 episode “Basic Crisis Room Decorum,” and the director was impressed enough by Pudi to think of him when casting his new series.
“When I was working on ‘Community,’ he was always working on different things and trying different things. And I put that in my Rolodex,” Goldthwait told TheWrap.
If (and when) the movie happens, Pudi doesn’t know what it would be about — nor would he want to.
“I never guessed what the episodes would be about while shooting the show, so I would continue to keep that theme going,” Pudi said “I’d rather be surprised by what I’m doing and trust Dan’s process.”
So just keep your fingers crossed and #SixSeasonsAndAMovie trending.
“Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters” will premiere on truTV this summer.
