The original series, which ran on CBS from 1957 to 1963, starred Richard Boone as gentleman gunfighter Paladin.

CBS has expressed interest in a number of gunslinger-themed projects of late. In addition to the 1960s-era "Vegas," which stars Dennis Quaid as Ralph Lamb, a rodeo cowboy who becomes Las Vegas' sheriff and premieres in the fall, the network has also been working on a reboot of the classic cowboy series "The Rifleman," with "Harry Potter and the Sorcerers' Stone" writer Chris Columbus penning the project.
