Daytona 500 Laps Up Biggest Ratings in Three Years

Audience spikes 17% to 15.6 million viewers as Trevor Bayne pull off upset victory

Trevor Bayne wasn't the only one taking a victory lap after Sunday's Daytona 500.

Fox landed its biggest ratings in three years with its broadcast of Sunday's race, scoring an average of 15.6 million viewers, according to a Fox announcement.

The numbers for the 53rd Annual Daytona 500 mark a 17 percent increase over last year's audience, and the highest numbers since 2008's broadcast.

Twenty-year-old Bayne's win was a surprise to many watching the NASCAR event, and the race was something of a nail-biter, with 74 lead changes.
