Warner Bros. is ready to unleash its standalone Aquaman film starring Jason Momoa.
“Aquaman” will now open in IMAX and 3D on Oct. 5, 2018. James Wan will direct the DC Comics project, following Momoa’s brief debut as the buff and surly hero in last spring’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”
The character is also expected to appear in next November’s “Justice League – Part One,” which will also star Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ray Fisher and Ezra Miller.
The standalone was written by Wan and Kurt Johnstad (“300”). Momoa is joined by actress Amber Heard in the role of Mera and actor Willem Dafoe.
While Momoa may not have Aquaman’s typical blonde locks from the comics, he certainly has the physique, having played both Conan the Barbarian and Khal Drago on HBO’s “Thrones.”
The actor, who is represented by APA and KLWGN, most recently starred in the Sundance Channel series “The Red Road.”
