Dempsey to Star in Bank Heist Comedy

“Grey’s Anatomy” star will topline untitled project from “Hangover” writers.

Patrick Dempsey will star in an untitled bank-heist comedy from Hangover scribes Jon Lucas and Scott Moore. Paul McGuigan, who previously helmed "Lucky Number Slevin," will handle directing duties.

The movie will begin shooting in April.

Peter Safran and Foresight Unlimited’s Mark Damon are producing. Foresight will fully finance the film, with Gudrun Giddings and Tamara Stuparich De La Barra on as co-producers, and Joannie Burstein executive producing.

“Jon and Scott’s screenplay is clever and yet deliriously funny, so it can be appreciated by critics and broad audiences alike,” Damon said in a statement. “Combined with Paul’s visual style and comedy sense, I think we have the kind of fun ride today’s audiences demand.”

The story turns on Dempsey’s character, who is caught in the middle of two simultaneous robberies at a bank. In the chaos, he finds himself falling for a bank teller.
