Did This MSNBC Anchor Confuse the Opening of Soda Can With Gunfire? (Video)

“I think we just heard some gunshots,” says Nicolle Wallace on live television Wednesday — it was not gunshots

MSNBC anchor Nicolle Wallace had a curious moment on set Wednesday when she confused the sound of an opening soda can with live gunfire.

“I think we just heard some gunshots. Should we listen to that for a second, control room?” asked Wallace with her customary monotone.

“Not gunshots?” Wallace then said to what was likely a very confused producer in her ear-piece. “Okay. They’ll tell us if there’s something we need to dip in and listen to.”

Multiple outlets yesterday including the Daily Caller and Washington Free Beacon identified the source of the sound as the opening of a soda can, though TheWrap was unable to independently confirm. The source of the sound is off camera.

A rep for MSNBC did not immediately respond to request for comment.

The channel, like many others, is on edge with the spate of gun violence that has rocked the United States in recent months. Only this week, YouTube became the latest victim of gun violence after a woman marched into their California headquarters and opened fire. Three were injured before the shooter, Nasim Najafi Aghdam, turned the gun on herself.
