Digital Domain Names Terry Clotiaux as VP of Feature Film Production

Terry Clotiaux rejoins Digital Domain from Prime Focus

Terry Clotiaux will join Digital Domain as the visual-effects company's new vice president of feature film production.

In addition, Digital Domain said Thursday that it has promoted Joanna Capitano from VFX marketing director to executive producer and elevated Lisa Beroud from executive producer to a member of the company’s senior management team.

Clotiaux is boarding Digital Domain at a time of transition for the company. The company filed for bankruptcy last year, after its parent company suffered a poorly received public offering and an ill-conceived expansion effort into areas like computer graphic military simulations backfired.

The company, which won plaudits and awards for its effects work on films like "Titanic" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," was sold for $30.2 million to the Indian conglomerate Reliance Group and the Chinese-owned media company Galloping Horse America. Earlier this week, Digital Domain CEO Ed Ulbrich said the company had reemerged stronger from its financial difficulties.

"We've started to deliver shows, and we're hearing from our clients that the experience was great, it was on time and on budget and, oh by the way, it's amazing that you guys were going through bankruptcy during this," Ulbrich said. "So we're starting to see the commitment from our clients in the flow of scripts and new work coming in. And we're letting other studios know that this is a new Digital Domain. We may have the same real estate and name, but we're a very different company now."

Clotiaux has racked up 35 feature films in a 25-year career. In his new job he will oversee all feature films in production at Digital Domain’s California and Vancouver studios, reporting to Ulbrich. Clotiaux is already familiar with the culture of Digital Domain, having worked in its feature film division from 2007 to 2009.

He rejoins the company most recently from Prime Focus Group, where he was president of global VFX production, overseeing work on films like "Avatar" and "Tree of Life."
