Discovery Communications has hired former E! president Suzanne Kolb as executive vice president and general manager of Discovery Digital Networks, the company announced Monday.

Effective immediately, Kolb will oversee the company’s 70+ portfolio of web-native brands and series, its original digital development, Discovery VR and other social partnerships.

Before joining Discovery, Kolb served as the president of E! Entertainment, where under her direction the company evolved into a more topical destination with original programming that reached 160 countries and had a vast digital presence. During her stint at E!, Kolb launched programs like “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” “Chelsea Lately,” “Botched” and “Total Divas,” while also green lighting the network’s first original scripted series, ‘The Royals.”

She joined E! as senior vice president, marketing for E! Networks in 2005 and was then promoted to chief marketing officer for E! & Style and general manager of E! Online before becoming president of marketing, news and online for E! and the Style Network.

Before E!, Kolb was the executive vice president of marketing at the WB Television Network where she developed marketing campaigns for series like “Dawson’s Creek,” “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Smallville” and “Gilmore Girls.”  She also worked at Grey Entertainment as an account and creative executive.

“I love building culturally relevant, young adult content brands and businesses, and I am thrilled to join such a talented team to do just that at Discovery Digital Networks,” said Kolb. “Discovery Digital Networks offers some of the highest quality and most engaging content in digital today, and I see no limit to its potential to become the next great portfolio of brands within the Discovery family.”

Kolb will work both from the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices.
