Disney will release Japanese animation master Hayao Miyazaki's next movie, "The Wind Rises," in North America, the studio said Tuesday.
There is no opening date set for the film, which will be released under the Touchstone Pictures banner. It a fictionalized account of the life of Jiro Horikoshi, the man who designed Japanese fighter planes during World War II.

Disney has previously released several films from the Academy Award-winning filmmaker's Studio Ghibli, including "The Secret World of Arrietty," "Ponyo," "Howl's Moving Castle" and "Spirited Away," which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2003.
Miyazaki's films have been huge hits in his native Japan and performed well globally, but haven't been major hits here. The last film he wrote and directed, 2009's "Ponyo," brought in $202 million worldwide while taking in $16 million in the U.S. "The Secret World of Arrietty," which he wrote, made $19 million domestically and $145 million globally.
