Djimon Hounsou is coming to Fox’s idyllic town of “Wayward Pines.” The two-time Oscar nominee (“Blood Diamond,” “In America”) has been cast as a series regular on Season 2 of M. Night Shyamalan‘s series.

Hounsou will play CJ Mitchum, an original resident of Wayward Pines and a historian for the town with extensive knowledge of its complex origins. He’s also the one person who can provide a unique bridge between the current world of Wayward Pines and the previous world that humans inhabited.

Jason Patric was previously announced for a starring role on the upcoming sophomore season, which airs this summer.

Shyamalan executive produces the series, based on Blake Crouch’s series of books. Crouch also earns an executive producer credit, as does Donald De Line and Ashwin Rajan.

Mark Friedman serves as executive producer and showrunner.

“Wayward Pines” is a production of 20th Century Fox Television.
