Oh, crap

A pipe burst during Tuesday night’s Los Angeles Dodgers game, flooding the field with sewage. Yeah, it was gross, and the maintenance issue ended the preseason contest.

The sewage leak occurred during the bottom of the 5th inning, with the Dodgers leading their crosstown rivals the Angels 4-3. That’s where the game would end.

It was the final game of the so-called Freeway Series — and of the entire preseason.

“Apparently there was a pipe backup on two different levels of the stadium,” Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten said after the game. “We don’t know exactly where the backup was, or what caused it. It had something to do with a main pipe here, as well as main pipe outside the stadium.”

ABC 7 reporter Curt Sandoval was on-site, and he utilized Facebook Live to share what he saw — and to try to explain the horrific smell.

The Dodgers (and their now-gross stadium) are scheduled to open the regular season tomorrow afternoon at 4:08 p.m. PT, when the defending National League Champions are supposed to host the San Francisco Giants. No word yet if that’s still happening.
