Today in “Not The Onion”: A 12-year-old boy is heading up one of the campaign offices of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The wunderkind is Jefferson County, Colorado resident and tween named Weston Imer, St. Louis’s KMOV reported. He is in charge of daily operations for the Jefferson County field office, corralling volunteers and getting out the message to vote for the former host of “The Apprentice.”

Rather than Snapchatting his summer vacation away, Imer is looking to set an example for his fellow younglings. “Get involved,” Imer said. “That’s what I’m going to say. Get involved. Kids need to be educated.”

Technically, it’s Imer’s mom, Laurel, whose name is listed on the paperwork for this particular field office, but young Weston is the one calling the shots.

Jefferson County, which had a population of about 535,000 in the 2010 census and includes several Denver suburbs, went to President Barack Obama in both the 2008 and 2012 elections — by a margin of 8.9 points in 2008 and 4.3 points in 2012. However, both the county and the state are widely considered potential swings in this election.

In what is perhaps one of the odder coincidences of the last week, the news of young Imer’s responsibilities comes on the heels of a message from late-night host John Oliver to Trump, wherein the comedian compared Trump’s campaign to that of (no joke) the 12-year-old protagonist of children’s book “The Kid Who Ran for President.”

Imer is, in fact, considering a run for president — when he reaches the age of eligibility, which will be the 2040 election.

Watch the video below to meet Imer.
