Donald Trump complained that Fox News boss Roger Ailes isn’t a very good friend because he “doesn’t do anything” for the GOP presidential candidate — but they do “like each other.”
The real estate billionaire discussed his rocky relationship with Ailes while appearing on Breitbart’s Stephen K. Bannon’s SiriusXM program. Trump said he’s treated poorly by the network and they “are in love with” Marco Rubio.
“In one way, he’s very professional, he won’t lift his finger to help me,” Trump said. “Roger Ailes will not lift his finger to help me. Which is fine, I mean he’s a professional and maybe that’s the way it’s supposed to be, but I get treated very badly by Fox.”
Bannon asked if Fox News is over the top with Rubio support and wondered if Nikki Haley and Rubio are “going to become the Ken & Barbie” of Fox News.
“Well, I don’t know, but they are in love with Rubio and it’s amazing to me. And after he cratered in the debate, they protected him,” Trump said. “And I look at it and in my opinion, I get treated the worst by far by Fox.”
Trump and Ailes have a checkered recent history that all started when Trump didn’t approve of a question asked by FNC star Megyn Kelly during last summer’s first GOP debate. Trump bashed Kelly on Twitter, Ailes defended Kelly, and Trump eventually skipped a Fox News debate.
“I do like Roger, he’s a friend of mine, but he’s a friend of mine that won’t do anything for me. So I don’t know if that’s called a friend,” Trump said.
