Donald Trump isn’t sure whether to grace Thursday’s GOP debate with his presence, given that it will be moderated by his arch nemesis, Megyn Kelly. So he’s doing what any potential president would do: Asking millions of people on social media.
“Should I do the #GOPdebate?” the GOP frontrunner asked in a poll to his more than 12 million followers on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
As of now the poll shows his supporters are split, with 52 percent saying he should participate and 48 percent he should boycott.
Fox News responded to Trump’s poll, sending TheWrap this statement: “We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president — a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings.”
Trump has been upset with Kelly since the first GOP debate last summer, when he took exception to her question regarding “disparaging comments about women.” Trump has repeatedly gone after Kelly on Twitter, while The Kelly File host has avoided confrontation.
On Monday, Trump told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer he might skip the debate.
“If I think I’m going to be treated unfairly, I’ll do something else,” Trump said.
