Donald Trump is not just dominating the conversation in America, but all over the world.
“People in Syria ask me about Donald Trump,” CNN’s Clarissa Ward told TheWrap. “He is absolutely a topic of conversation in every war zone I’ve been to, every dinner party I have been to.”
Ward recently traveled undercover to a rebel-held area of Syria, where she witnessed 11 people die in an airstrike. The top-secret assignment required six months of planning, but throughout the process she heard discussion of the real estate mogul who now leads the Republican field in the presidential race.
“[Trump] has captured the world’s attention in a way I haven’t seen in quite some time,” Ward said.
Ward is a London-based senior international correspondent who has reported on the front lines of war zones in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Yemen.
She has won multiple awards for her reporting including a George Foster Peabody Award, an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia Award, four Emmy Awards and an Edward R. Murrow Award for distinguished journalism.
