‘Double Dare’: Nickelodeon Reboot Names Host – and It’s Not Marc Summers (Video)

But original emcee will provide color commentary on his old/new game show

Nickelodeon has named the host for its upcoming “Double Dare” reboot — and it’s not Marc Summers. Still, the game show’s original guy will stay aboard to add “key color commentary,” the Viacom-owned kids network said on Tuesday.

Actress Liza Koshy is the new emcee, Nick revealed this morning. Koshy is described by her new employer as a “digital creator” and an actress — and she’s sure stoked to have this gig.

“This is a dream that I have been dreaming to live!” Koshy said in a media release. “From watching ‘Double Dare’ to hosting it!? I am ready for a summer of slime and nose picking.”

“I can’t think of many shows like ‘Double Dare’ that have the ability to bond people together — those who grew up watching the original series can now pass along their love for this game show to today’s kids,” Summers added. “It’s an honor to be a part of this reboot.”

They’re both also executive producers, by the way, alongside Peter Herschko and Josh Silberman. “Double Dare” is produced by FremantleMedia North America.

Finally, we also now have a debut date for this version of “Double Dare”: The summer run kicks off Monday, June 25 at 8/7c.
