Police Release Video of Drake Friend Anthony Soares’ Murder (Warning: Graphic)

Footage depicts two gunmen firing multiple rounds at Anthony Soares at close range

Police in Toronto have released footage capturing the murder of rapper Drake’s friend Anthony Soares, in hopes of tracking down Soares’ killers.

The footage depicts Soares indoors as two gunmen run up and open fire on him, unloading approximately 10 rounds that shattered the glass doors of the building Soares was in.

According to police, Soares was killed on Sept. 14 after walking into the lobby of a building and being approached by two suspects armed with handguns. The 33-year-old was transported to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Detective Sergeant Gary Giroux of Toronto Police Homicide said that the motive for the killing is unknown.

“Whatever (animosity) or whatever baggage that Mr. Soares had with these two individuals or any part of a group that they’re associated to . . . at this point, it remains unknown,” Giroux said, according to the Toronto Star. Giroux added that Soares was “clearly the target of the attack.”

Drake addressed the death via Instagram, writing, “RIP to one of our family members…our brother… I still can’t even believe this morning was real. It was a honor to have shared years together and I will always keep your memory alive.”
