DreamWorks Animation Names Abhijay Prakash Chief Operating Officer

Exec most recently served as COO of Universal’s Focus Features

DreamWorks Animation has named Focus Features’ Abhijay Prakash chief operating officer, the studio announced on Friday.

Prakash most recently served as COO at Focus Features, another Universal film division, and will transition to DreamWorks in the coming weeks, while continuing to provide support for Focus through the rest of the year and awards season.

In his new role, Prakash will oversee studio’s strategic planning and primary business operations, including finance, business development, technology and administrative functions.

The appointment was announced by DreamWorks Animation Group President Chris deFaria.

Prior to his role at Focus Features, Prakash served as executive vice president, film strategy & operations for Universal.

He previously worked at the Boston Consulting Group and also held other positions in media and worked as a public policy researcher.
