‘Duck Dynasty’s’ Willie Robertson Urged to Run for Congress (Report)

The reality-show star would be a replacement for retiring Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander.

Could Duck Commander Willie Robertson soon be delivering a new kind of duck call — one aimed at his fellow congressmen.

Some Republican operatives are trying to lure Duck Dynasty CEO and "Duck Dynasty" reality-show star Robertson to run for Congress from his home Monroe, La., district as a replacement for retiring Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander.

Alexander is a former Democrat who switched parties in 2004, but his redrawn district is now heavily Democratic.

"My boys want to run Willie Robertson for the seat," the Washington Examiner quoted an adviser to House GOP leadership as saying.

Robertson has repeatedly described himself as a “redneck millionaire.”

Neither Robertson nor A&E, which airs "Duck Dynasty," about to begin its fourth season, immediately responded to requests for comment. Robertson’s "Buck Commander" show airs on the Outdoor Channel.

The web pages for "Duck Dynasty" describes Willie as an avid hunter and a prankster but also the family member with a business and degree.

While Republican operatives would like to get Robertson to run, they are not at all convinced he would be willing to give up his TV shows and his role as the company’s CEO to head to Congress, the Examiner said.
