“Blade Runner 2049,” “Dunkirk,” “Molly’s Game,” “The Post” and “The Shape of Water” have been nominated as the best-edited dramatic films of 2017 at the American Cinema Editors’ ACE Eddie Awards, the honorary society announced on Wednesday.
In the comedy or musical category, the nominees are “Baby Driver,” “Get Out,” “I, Tonya,” “Lady Bird” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”
Winners will be announced at the 68th annual ACE Eddie Awards on January 26 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Over the last five years, more than 90 percent of the Oscar nominees in the Best Film Editing category have first been nominated for ACE Eddie Awards. The vast majority of them, 18 out of 23, have been nominated in the Best Edited Feature Film (Dramatic) category, with only one Oscar nominee each year coming from the ACE Eddies’ Best Edited Feature Film (Comedy) category.
“Coco,” “Despicable Me 3” and “The Lego Batman Movie” were nominated in the Best Edited Animated Feature Film category, while documentary nominees were “Cries From Syria,” “Jane,” “Joan Didion: The Center Will Not Hold” and “LA 92.”
In the television categories, “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Better Call Saul” and “Fargo” each received two nominations, while other nominees included “Portlandia,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Glow,” “Veep,” “Game of Thrones” and “Handmaid’s Tale.”
ACE is an honorary society made up of more than 950 motion picture and television editors, all of whom are eligible to vote for the ACE Eddie Awards.
