Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson announced that his Seven Bucks Productions company will be making a film about MMA fighter Mark Kerr, also known as The Smashing Machine.

Johnson, who will also play Kerr in the biographical film, made the announcement at the UFC 245 press conference ahead of an event at Madison Square Garden on Friday.

“Who can smell what The Rock is cookin,’” Johnson, after hearing chants demanding he belt his signature WWE catchphrase, told an enthusiastic crowd before making the announcement.

Johnson assured the crowd that Kerr would be involved in the project.

“I loved that he trusts me with his life and his story,” he said after having spoken with Kerr recently, before adding, “I’m going to shine the light on your life.”

Johnson clarified that the biographical film is a dramatic role, “but Mark has lived a dramatic life.”

Kerr is an American champion collegiate wrestler and now retired mixed martial artist who during his career was known as the best fighter in the world. He was a World Vale Tudo Championship tournament winner, a two-time UFC heavyweight tournament winner and a PRIDE FC competitor.  In 2003, HBO released a documentary about Kerr titled “The Smashing Machine.”

Earlier this year, Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions, which he founded with Dany Garcia and of which Hiram Garcia is currently the president, released “Fighting With My Family,” which chronicled the life and career of WWE’s Paige. It starred Florence Pugh, Stephen Merchant, Lena Headey and Nick Frost.
