Ed Helms has signed up for a pair of roles during his hiatus from “The Office” – and no, neither is “The Hangover 3.”
Helms will play Eggbert in “They Came Together,” the latest comedy from David Wain, the writer/director behind “Wet Hot American Summer” and “Wanderlust,” his representatives confirmed.
The romantic comedy spoof stars Paul Rudd, who also had a lead in “Wanderlust,” as well as Amy Poehler and Max Greenfield. Rudd owns a corporation that endangers Poehler’s small business, while Helms will play Poehler’s love interest.
Helms’ second role is a brief cameo in “We’re the Millers,” a long-gestating project about a pot dealer itching for retirement. Jason Sudeikis is the dealer while his “Horrible Bosses” co-star Jennifer Aniston pretends to be his wife in a fake family. Helms plays Sudeikis’ boss.
“The Hangover: Part III” starts filming in September while “The Office” picks up in late July.
Deadline first reported Helms’ casting.
