Ellen Back on Fox Thursday Night for ‘SYTYCD’ Guest Spot

The comedienne and daytime talk show host will dance with tWitch Boss two weeks after announcing her departure from “American Idol”

Exactly two weeks after announcing her departure from Fox's "American Idol," Ellen DeGeneres is doing a guest appearance on another one of the network's shows — the season finale Thursday night of "So You Think You Can Dance."

DeGeneres – who was a guest judge on the show last season — will perform with series regular tWitch Boss before the winner of the show’s seventh season is crowned.

DeGeneres' cameo is a strong showing of support between her and the "Idol" team following reports of tension during her one-season "Idol" run.

Though at the annual TCA summer press tour earlier this month, Fox Chairman Peter Rice told reporters that he wanted DeGeneres to remain on the show, the comedian and daytime talk-show host quit "Idol" amid rumors she was unhappy on set; in her statement she even admitted her time there had not been “a good fit.”

DeGeneres' guest appearance on "SYTYCD” so soon after her "Idol" exit seems to be a deliberate gesture designed to quiet critics who described an unhealthy relationship between her and one of Fox's biggest production partners.

“SYTYCD” is produced by Dick Clark Productions and 19 Entertainment, which also produces "Idol," and the dance show’s Nigel Lythgoe will join the singing competition next season as an executive producer.
