The first English-language trailer for Emma Watson‘s upcoming thriller “Regression” was released on Thursday.
The trailer begins with Detective Kenner (Ethan Hawke) asking a woman (Watson) to tell him everything. She replies by saying “They’ll kill me.” She eventually reveals that she was abducted by a cult and forced to participate in a black mass. After relating the story to Kenner, she ruefully tells him, “Now they’ll kill you too.”
Minnesota, 1990. Detective Bruce Kenner (Hawke) investigates the case of young Angela (Watson), who accuses her father, John Gray (David Dencik), of an unspeakable crime. When John unexpectedly and without recollection admits guilt, renowned psychologist Dr. Raines (David Thewlis) is brought in to help him relive his memories and what they discover unmasks a horrifying nationwide mystery.
Thewlis previously co-starred with Watson in five of the “Harry Potter” films. Spanish director Alejandro Amenabar (“The Others”, “The Sea Inside”) helmed the project and wrote the script.
“Regression” is due out in theaters on August 28, 2015.
