The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Monday launched a new version of Emmys.com, which will serve as "the premier destination for everything Emmys,” said Television Academy Chairman and CEO John Shaffner.
Also on Monday, ATAS confirmed that Neil Patrick Harris will be this year’s Emmy host. The telecast will air on CBS on Sept. 20.
Emmys.com will offer editorial, video and other content previously unavailable to the general public, according to ATAS. It will, for example, stream Thursday’s announcement of the 61st primetime Emmys nominations at 5:40 a.m. PST.
“Fans will find behind-the-scenes and breaking information, show updates, unique video footage and clips from past telecasts and more," said Shaffner. "After the Emmys, the site will continue to evolve, becoming a valuable destination for anyone who loves television.”
From July 16-Sept. 20, exclusive photos from all Primetime Emmy events will be posted, including red carpet fashion galleries, interviews with nominees, past winners and key production personnel as well as an insider’s view of the Governors Ball and other celebrations.
Emmys.com will integrate social media, including feeds from Twitter and Facebook. And beginning September, links to the Television Academy Foundation’s vast interview collection at will be available.
The site will be password-free.
