‘Entourage’ Star Kevin Connolly to Co-Star With James Van Der Beek in CBS Pilot

Kevin Connolly will play a gynecologist who avoids conflict and enjoys pleasing people

Kevin Connolly is trading Vince Chase for James Van Der Beek.

Former "Entourage" star Connolly has signed on for the CBS comedy pilot "Friends With Better Lives," which also stars "Dawson's Creek" alum Van Der Beek.

The multi-camera pilot, from "Friends" writer/producer Dana Klein, focuses on a group of 30-something friends who each think the other has it better. Connolly will play Bobby Lutz, a gynecologist, modern father and devoted husband who is more of a girls' guy than a guys' guy. He's described as a responsible rule follower and people pleaser who avoids conflict.

Klein is writing and executive producing the project, which comes from 20th Century Fox Television in association with Kapital Entertainment. Aaron Kaplan is also executive producing.

This will mark Connolly's first television gig since "Entourage" wrapped up in 2011.

Van Der Beek most recently starred in ABC's "Don't Trust the B—- in Apt. 23," which was pulled from the network's schedule in January.

Interestingly, Emmanuelle Chriqui — who played the significant other of Connolly's Eric Murphy character on "Entourage" — was cast earlier this week in the CBS pilot The Ordained."
