eOne Picks Up ‘Stung’ for Multiple Territories

XYZ Films and Celluloid Nightmares have sold multiple territories for the film “Stung” to Entertainment One

Independent distributor Entertainment One has picked up rights from XYZ Films and Celluloid Nightmares to sell the film "Stung" for multiple territories, including the United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa  and Scandinavia.

The film, written by Adam Aresty and to be directed by Benni Diez, is produced by XYZ Films. It is currently casting and is scheduled to shoot in Europe in the spring of 2013. Foreign sales are being handled at AFM by Celluloid Nightmares, the partnership between XYZ Films and Paris-based Celluloid Dreams.

The film tells the story of a fancy garden party that goes terribly wrong after a local species of wasps mutate into giant predators. It's up to Paul and Julia, two catering staffers at the high-society event, to stop the killer creatures — an effort that kick starts a budding romance between the two.

The deal was negotiated by Nate Bolotin of XYZ Films and by Jo Sweby from eOne, which is fast emerging as one of the most interesting companies on the independent scene, with its direct distribution network in nine territories.

Recently, XYZ executive produced the hit action film "The Raid: Redemption," which was released by Sony Pictures Classics earlier this year. The company has also finished production on "Frankenstein’s Army," which just completed shooting in Prague.
