Why ‘Westworld’ Star Evan Rachel Wood Turned Down ‘Mean Girls’ (Video)

#Regrets

While you watch “Westworld” on Sunday, think about how good Evan Rachel Wood would have been in “Mean Girls.”

Yeah, that almost happened. The actress behind the HBO series’ lead robot host Dolores Abernathy not only auditioned for the 2004 Tina Fey feature comedy, she “turned it down.”

“There’s a good reason,” Wood assured Jimmy Fallon on Thursday’s “Tonight Show.” “I was already supposed to do a film called ‘Pretty Persuasion’ that was set in a high school that was very ‘Heathers’-esque. And it was very similar. I was already kind of doing that, so I was like, ‘I can’t [do ‘Mean Girls’].”

We guess that checks out. Wood did not reveal which role she was offered, but the talented singer sure hopes to get a second crack at a Fey movie. Maybe Fallon, Fey’s friend and former “Weekend Update” partner, can help.

“As long as the next movie you’re doing is not about a robot uprising, I will happily [do it],” Wood simultaneously told the “30 Rock” creator and Fallon’s 30 Rock studio audience last night.

Um, we’ve got some bad news for you, Evan. Somewhere, Lindsay Lohan is brushing up on her A.I.

“Westworld” Season 2 premieres Sunday at 9/8c on HBO.
