Ex ‘Survivor’ Producer Charged With Wife’s Murder

Bruce Beresford-Redman was charged by Mexican authorities and a warrant for his arrest was issued

Former "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman has been charged with murder and a warrant was issued for his arrest Monday, a judge confirmed to KNX 1070 Newsradio.

Beresford-Redman has denied any involvement in the death of his wife Monica, whose body was found in a sewer in Cancun last month. His attorney, Richard Hirsch, has suggested her death might be connected to several killings in the Cancun resort area.

In a statement released Monday by Beresford-Redman's lawyer, he said:

"I am devastated at her loss; and I am incensed at the suggestion that I could have had anything to do with her death. I am innocent. My children have had one parent taken from them by a senseless act of violence. I implore the Mexican authorities not to take their remaining parent by a miscarriage of justice and to do what is right not just what is expedient."

A warrant for Beresford-Redman's arrest was issued in Mexico, though he returned to Los Angeles last week despite reports he had been ordered to remain in Mexico pending the outcome of the investigation.

Monica Beresford-Redman's friends and family held a memorial service for her on Sunday.
