Facebook Teams With Skype on Video-Calling Feature

Social media giant also announces improvements to its chat functions

Facebook will soon offer a video-calling feature to its services, the company said on Wednesday.

The video-calling service, which is being presented in partnership with Skype, has been in the works for months and will become available to all users "over the next few weeks, " according to the company's announcement. The service will be available in more than 70 different languages.

Facebook members can access the feature from their chat options, with the click of a video call button at the top of the chat window.

The company also said that it had made multiple improvements to Facebook's chat function, such as a new sidebar that lists a member's most-messaged users that adjusts to the size of the user's browser window, and the ability to instantly create a group chat.

Announcement comes a week after Google unveiled its new social network, Google+. Facebook's rival has made several attempts to compete in social media.
