ABC Family’s hit series “Pretty Little Liars” finally unmasked the villainous “A” in Tuesday night’s Season 6 summer finale.

Before jumping forward five years and planting the seeds of a new mystery, the episode revealed that Alison’s friend CeCe Drake was actually her brother Charles post-transition. An obsession with Alison, nursed since childhood, is what led CeCe to torment her and her friends as “A” through the last five seasons.

Fans of the series had mixed reactions to the big revelation on social media, with some expressing disappointment that they had predicted the outcome long ago. Others criticized the series for sensationalizing the character’s transgender identity.

“The fact that The fact that every fake reveal was better than the actual one..” wrote Twitter user @jackie72193 with the hashtag #PLLissed.
