(Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Wednesday episode of “Fargo.”)

Eagle-eyed “Fargo” fans got a treat during Wednesday’s episode of the FX drama series.

After last week’s stunning twist left Ray Stussy (Ewan McGregor) dead following a tussle with brother Emmit (McGregor), this week’s installment featured the show’s characters grappling with the aftermath. Emmit and Varga (David Thewlis) successfully set up Nikki (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) to take the fall for the demise of her late beau, landing her behind bars.

In the episode’s final sequence, Nikki was shackled on a bus on her way to the state prison. But the bus ended up careening off the road and landing on its side, with the collision rendering Nikki unconscious and bleeding.

In a startling coincidence, her seat mate during the ill-fated ride is none other than deaf hitman Wes Wrench (Russell Harvard), whom “Fargo” devotees undoubtedly recall from his key role in Season 1.

Wrench appears to be the only notable character thus far to appear in all three seasons. In the first one, set in 2006, he and partner Grady Numbers (Adam Goldberg) attempted to track down Lorne Malvo (Billy Bob Thornton) for killing Sam Hess (Kevin O’Grady). Malvo eventually took out Numbers but spared Wrench’s life.

Wrench also appeared as a boy in Season 2, which took place in 1979. In the finale, he can be seen playing baseball with a young Numbers.

“Fargo” airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET on FX.
