‘Fast & Furious 6’ Passing $500M Overseas With Strong China Debut

It's pacing to open at No. 1 with $24M, which would be Universal's best-ever opening there

"Fast & Furious 6" opened No. 1 in China on Friday and scored Universal’s highest-ever opening in that territory.

The film grossed $6.9 million Friday, putting it on track for a weekend of around $24 million, among the year's best debuts for a U.S. film. China is the 66th territory in which "Fast 6"  has opened at No. 1 and its foreign total was at $485 million Saturday, so it should cross $500 million Sunday.

On its current pace, "Fast 6" will hit $237 million domestically by Sunday, and have a worldwide total of $740 million.

China is the final foreign territory for "Fast 6," which has become Universal’s highest-grossing franchise in the studio's 101-year history.
