Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, the actress who played a character of the same name on the HBO series "The Wire," is expected to plead guilty on Monday in a drug conspiracy case, the AP is reporting.
The 31-year-old is facing a misdemeanor charge of conspiracy to distribute heroin, and her trial was set to begin Tuesday, attorney Benjamin C. Sutley told the AP.
Pearson was among the 64 people rounded up in March during the so-called Operation Usual Suspects, a prosecution of an alleged east Baltimore drug gang that bought and sold heroin and marijuana.
But Pearson's part in the alleged crimes, according to Sutley, was limited and she decided to enter the plea to rid herself of the burden of dealing with the charges.
"More than anything she wanted to close this matter and move on," Sutley said.
Back in March, Pearson sparred with a Baltimore judge, who denied a bail request in somewhat ludicrous fashion. According to the hearing transcript, the following exchange took place after the judge said she was a threat to lam it if he granted bail because she's a good actress and can morph into different personas:
"I can't change my face," said Pearson.
"Well, you can change your appearance," the judge said. "I've seen the episodes of 'The Wire' in which you appear. You look very different than you do here today, and I'm not talking about the jumpsuit. I'm talking about your general appearance."
On "The Wire," Pearson played a thuggish hit man (well, hit woman) and bodyguard for the kingpin of a Baltimore drug gang.
In real life, Pearson has had a troubled upbringing in Baltimore, which she chronicled in her 2007 memoir, "Grace After Midnight."
