‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Casts Rita Ora as Christian Grey’s Adopted Sister

The chart-topping musician will play Mia alongside star Jamie Dornan

Musician Rita Ora will play Mia, Christian Grey’s adopted younger sister, in Universal Pictures and Focus Features’ adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson star alongside Eloise Mumford (Kate), Luke Grimes (Elliot), Victor Rasuk (Jose), Jennifer Ehle (Carla) and Max Martini (Jason).

Ora is best known as the chart-topping musician who scored a hit with “Hot Right Now,” which was the first of three consecutive No. 1 singles. Her debut album “ORA” also entered the U.K. charts at No.1, and subsequently enjoyed worldwide success. Ora’s sophomore album is expected in the spring, with rumored collaborations with Calvin Harris and many others.

Sam Taylor-Johnson is directing from a script by Kelly Marcel, Patrick Marber and Mark Bomback. Michael de Luca and Dana Brunetti are producing alongside author E L James. Universal and Focus will release “Fifty Shades” on Feb. 13, 2015.

Ora is an Albanian-born British singer-songwriter who was born in Pristina, Kosovo in 1990. She began singing and acting from a young age, and recently made a cameo appearance in Universal’s “Fast & Furious 6.” Additionally, she was featured in significant campaigns for DKNY, handpicked by Madonna to be the face of her “Material Girl” fashion line and she has been confirmed as the new face of Rimmel for 2014.
