‘Flip or Flop’ Star’s ‘Inappropriate Texting’ Might Have Led to Gun Incident (Report)

In Touch says Tarek El Moussa became suspicious because of his wife’s texting

“Inappropriate texting” between “Flip or Flop” star Christina El Moussa and her now-boyfriend, contractor Gary Anderson, might have led to the gun incident in May that preceded El Moussa’s split from her husband Tarek, In Touch reports.

Citing an “insider,” In Touch reports that Christina El Moussa “grew close” to Anderson after the couple hired him to work on their pool in 2015. While Tarek “was suspicious” that his wife was involved with somebody else, the insider said, the situation came to a head in May when “Tarek saw Christina’s phone and [believed] there was some inappropriate texting going on between Christina and Gary,” according to the magazine.

The situation caused him to storm out of their Orange County, Calif., home with a gun, In Touch’s insider said.

The El Moussas, who confirmed late last year that they’ve dated other people since their split, denied that they were seeing other people before the breakup. “Neither of us was involved in a romantic relationship with any third party prior to our separation, or believes the other was,” they told In Touch.

In December, TMZ reported that Tarek began dating the El Moussa family’s former nanny, Alyssa Logan, in September, but that they have broken up.

The El Moussas announced the separation in December. In the May incident, law enforcement responded to a report of a “possibly suicidal male with a gun.” The call was made after Tarek retrieved a gun from the couple’s home and wandered into Chino Hills State Park.

Tarek told deputies that he headed to the park to “blow off some steam,” and that he brought the gun with him as protection against mountain lions and rattlesnakes.

“Flip or Flop,” which premiered in 2013, revolves around the El Moussas, real estate agents who buy distressed properties and renovate them.

In a statement to TheWrap, HGTV, which airs the series, said that the show “will continue production as scheduled.”

“We admire and appreciate Tarek and Christina’s great work on ‘Flip or Flop,'” HGTV said. “When it comes to matters related to their own family, we respect their privacy and honor any decision that works best for them and their children. HGTV is currently airing episodes of ‘Flip or Flop’ and the series will continue production as scheduled.”
