
Evan Shapiro has pivoted to NBCUniversal.
Shapiro, who exited as president of the TV network Pivot last month, has been appointed executive vice president, digital enterprises at NBCUniversal.

The newly created role will find Shapiro working on the company-wide strategic development of digital opportunities to reach emerging audiences, including alternative platforms and direct to consumer distribution models.
Shapiro, who will begin his new position on Dec. 8, will be based in New York, reporting to NBCUniversal executive vice president Cesar Conde.

Conde hailed Shapiro as “a seasoned strategic thinker” who will “be a key asset” to the company.
“Evan brings a robust understanding of emerging media trends and extensive experience programming for the millennial audience to NBCUniversal,” Conde said. “He’s a seasoned strategic thinker with a strong track record of programming, production and digital marketing successes. His leadership will be a key asset as we continue to navigate the evolving marketplace.”

In addition to presiding over Pivot, which he launched in August 2013, Shapiro has served as the president of IFC TV and Sundance Channel. He’s also executive produced documentaries and series including “This Film Is Not Yet Rated” and “Brick City.”
