Fox News Co-Presidents Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine have signed new multi-year contracts, 21st Century Fox Executive Chairman Rupert Murdoch announced on Wednesday.
“Jack and Bill have been instrumental in Fox News’ continued dominance in the ratings and historic earnings performance. I am delighted they’ve each signed new deals, ensuring stability and leadership to help guide the network for years to come,” Murdoch said in a statement.
The announcement indicates that Fox execs are happy with the way the network has been run since Abernethy and Shine were named co-presidents in August following Roger Ailes’ exit from the network amid allegations of sexual harassment.
Abernethy and Shine added, “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to continue leading Fox News and Fox Business into the future and look forward to working alongside the incredible roster of talent, both on and off air, to make each network even more successful.”
Abernethy oversees all business components of Fox News and Fox Business, including finance, advertising sales and distribution units. Shine runs all programming and news functions of each network, including production, technical operations and talent management.
The duo has been extremely successful early in their tenure as network co-presidents, as Fox News has won the total day cable viewers crown for 10 of the past 11 weeks.
“On the Record with Brit Hume” and the Sunday edition of “Special Report with Bret Baier” are new programs that have done well on the watch of Abernethy and Shine. On Tuesday, it was announced that Dana Perino and Chris Stirewalt will debut a new program, “Perino & Stirewalt: I’ll Tell You What” on Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. ET.
