Fox News Mistakenly Reports That James Comey Resigned (Video)

FBI head was fired by Donald Trump on Tuesday

Eh;  fired, resigned — you say tomato…

“The Fox News Specialists” reacted to news that FBI director James Coney had been fired by Donald Trump on Tuesday by breaking in with a report … that Comey had resigned.

“James Comey is resigning, is that what you’re telling me?” co-host Eric Bolling declared during Tuesday’s broadcast. “James Comey has just announced that he’s going to step down as head of the FBI.”

As the co-hosts and guests absorbed the news, the words “James Comey Resigns” blared across the bottom of the screen.

The broadcast quickly corrected itself to say that Comey had, in fact, been fired. But not before Breitbart News senior editor at large Peter Schweizer offered his initial thoughts on Comey’s supposed resignation, stating, “He had a very, very difficult job … I think it was a good idea for him to resign.”

In a letter to Comey on Tuesday, Trump wrote, “I have received the attached letters from the attorney General and Deputy Attorney General of the United States recommending your dismissal as the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations. I have accepted the recommendation and you are hereby terminated and removed from office, effective immediately.”

Watch “The Fox News Specialists” report on Comey’s departure, beginning at approximately the 33-minute mark, in the video.
