Fox is examining the pitfalls of young adult life with a new pilot for “Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life” from prolific television producer Gail Berman.

Produced by Berman’s new production company The Jackal Group and 20th Century Fox Television, the single camera comedy celebrates the mistakes and misadventures we all make during the years after college and before settling down.

Actor and producer Jay Locopo (“Man of Your Dreams,” “All Grown Up”) will write and serve as an executive producer on “Guide to Surviving Life.”

Berman — who’s known for producing “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Angel” and “Alphas” — will serve as an executive producer. In January 2014, Berman left her media company BermanBraun and formed The Jackal Group with Fox Networks Group in June.

She had also served as Fox Entertainment president from 2000-2005, in which she helped develop and produce “American Idol,” “24,” “House,” “Arrested Development,” “Bones” and “Family Guy.” She has also previously served as president at Paramount Pictures and founded Regency Television.

“Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life” is the seventh comedy pilot Fox has ordered this season. Others include Ryan Murphy‘s “Scream Queens,” which received a straight-to-series order; “Detour” from Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo and an untitled John Stamos comedy.
