Fox Searchlight is in discussions to pop a few bottles with the BBC on a film adaptation of “Absolutely Fabulous,” an individual close to the deal told TheWrap.
Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley, stars of the original British TV series, will reunite for a feature-length project about hard-partying Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone — best friends who navigate the superficial sectors of the fashion and public relations industries.
Searchlight is in discussions to co-finance and co-produce the film with the BBC, which aired the series from 1992-2012 including an original run, revival seasons and 20th anniversary specials.

Production will begin in October in London. Mandie Fletcher, a veteran director of the TV series, is on board to helm. Saunders will executive produce with Dawn French, her partner in comedy prior to “Ab Fab” fame.
Saunders and Lumley last collaborated in 2012, when the women participated in the torch run for the London Olympic Games as characters Monsoon and Stone.
