FX has identified its best picks for its “Worst” roles.

FX Networks has cast “After Earth” actor Chris Geere, “Pitch Perfect” actress Kether Donohue and “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” actor Desmin Borges in the comedy pilot “You’re the Worst,” from Stephen Falk (“Weeds,” “Orange Is the New Black”).

The pilot revolves around two  toxic, self-destructive people fall in love despite themselves and attempt the impossible – a relationship.

Geere (pictured) will play Jimmy, a completely self-absorbed, proudly outspoken, and utterly insensitive writer living in LA who is deeply unsettled when he finds himself developing feelings for a recent one-night stand, Gretchen, played by Aya Cash (“The Newsroom”).

A cynical and self-destructive beauty, Gretchen grew up believing she was perfect but is quickly realizing that things have not worked out as she’d hoped: she’s broke, fast approaching 30, and somehow has come to work as a publicist for an immature hip-hop group who makes her life miserable.  Like Jimmy, when she begins to have serious feelings for another person, she’s terrified, and, worst of all, vulnerable.

Donohue, meanwhile, will play Gretchen’s best friend Lindsay.  The beta to Gretchen’s alpha, Lindsay is married and trying her hardest to be a proper adult-type lady, despite Gretchen’s selfish desire for Lindsay to return to her wild, party-girl ways and become interesting again.

Borges has been cast in the role of Edgar, Jimmy’s sweet and earnest childhood friend/roommate who is a war veteran suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and mild battlefield-induced psychosis. Edgar looks up to Jimmy despite Jimmy’s deep flaws.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts (“Kings of Summer”) will direct the pilot, which is being produced by FX Productions.
