Gabby Douglas is on the mend, following her hospitalization this week.

The Olympic gymnast, who had to bow out of an appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, took to Twitter to open up about her trip to the hospital, which included the removal of a cyst from her mouth.

According to Douglas, the cyst developed due to a complication from a previous injury.

“Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that I’m doing ok!” Douglas wrote on Twitter. “I had a complication from a prior injury that caused cyst to grow on a bone in my mouth. Got it removed and feeling much better now!”

Douglas, 20, went on to thank her fans for their prayers, adding, “and HUGE thank you to the doctors that have taken care of me these last four days!”

Douglas ended her tweet with a pair of hashtags suggesting that, while the multiple gold medalist is feeling better after having that troublesome cyst removed, she isn’t out of the woods yet.

“#Ontheroadtorecovery,” Douglas wrote, followed by, “#ButIstillgottagetthesewisdomteethout.”

Ouch. Hopefully her wisdom teeth don’t hurt as much as all the criticism Douglas received over that whole national anthem flap.
