Gail Mancuso to Direct Road Trip Comedy ‘Besties’ for DreamWorks

Emmy winner and prolific TV director packs up for a feature film

Emmy-winning TV director Gail Mancuso will direct Dreamworks’ “Besties,” about a woman who hits the road with her best friends to stop an ex’s wedding.

Mancuso has directed more than 300 episodes of TV, including “Modern Family,” for which she won her Emmys, as well as “30 Rock,” “Friends” and “Roseanne.”

The script for “Besties” is by Cassie Daniels and Mark Bartosic, and follows a journey that begins when the woman discovers a love note from the ex that she has not seen before.

The project will roll later this year, with Ivan Reitman and Ali Bell producing and Tom Pollock on board as executive producer. Universal Pictures will handle distribution.

Mancuso is represented by ICM Partners and law firm Stone, Genow, Smelkinson, Binder & Christopher.
