Liam Cunningham Blames Rogue ‘Game of Thrones’ Coffee Cup on Emilia Clarke’s Caffeine Addiction (Video)

And smuggles (what is for sure not the real) contraband onto “Conan”

Ser Davos Seaworth is the best smuggler is the Seven Kingdoms and it seems his real-life counterpart, actor Liam Cunningham, is the best smuggler on the set of “Game of Thrones,” since he managed to swipe the now infamous rogue to-go coffee cup that made it into Sunday’s episode for Conan O’Brien.

Cunningham brought (what is for sure not actually the real) cup to his appearance on “Conan” Tuesday night, telling the TBS late-night host that was “tricky” to get and is definitely (not) the item that caused such a stir, when eagle-eyed fans spotted it sitting in front of Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) on a table in Winterfell.

“Ah, it wasn’t that pivotal of a scene! The cup was a bit more pivotal than the scene,” Cunningham told O’Brien, laughing, when the “Conan” host asked how the contraband possibly made it into the shot. “These things happen. It’s a big job, people run in,” he said, jokingly adding, “and Emilia probably drinks too much coffee.”

Wow, way to throw the Mother of Dragons under the bus.

A representative for the premium-cable channel told TheWrap Tuesday that the beverage that was not meant to make it into Episode 804, “The Last of the Starks,” has been edited out of the version currently available on HBO Go. We’re told it will not be seen in any encore presentations going forward or in the episode that makes into into DVD sets, etc.

HBO got in on the joke Monday after viewers spotted the out-of-place to-go cup with this statement: “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.”

In an email to media, the pay-TV channel referred to the to-go cup, which many assumed to be from Starbucks based on a somewhat-visible logo, as “a craft services coffee cup.”

“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
