Everyone loves musical chairs — throw in dragons, and it’s game on for adults.

The “Game of Thrones” Season 5 premiere episode landed a series-high 4.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic; the fantasy drama hauled in 8 million total viewers.

Last year, the popular HBO show’s Season 4 premiere netted a 3.6 rating in the key demo, which means this one is up 16.7 percent.

The premium network’s comedy “Silicon Valley” returned for its sophomore season with a 1.3 demo rating, which was good for second place across cable on Sunday. The Mike JudgeAlec Berg sitcom netted 2.13 million total viewers, which placed it just outside selected cable’s Top 5.

“Veep” was lower, finishing with a 0.5 rating and 1.05 million viewers.

All numbers represented here are Live + Same Day Nielsen data per TVByTheNumbers. HBO prefers Live + 7 Day numbers, which is what they report through the press.

Both “Silicon Valley” and “Veep” were renewed by HBO on Monday.
