“Game of Thrones” always promises bigger and grander things in upcoming seasons, and season 7 is no exception — this time, one of the directors is guaranteeing dragons the “size of 747s.”

“The dragons this year are the size of 747s,” director Matt Shankman told Entertainment Weekly. “Drogon is the biggest of the bunch — his flame is 30-feet in diameter!”

For reference, a 747 is approximately 230 feet long with a 210 feet wingspan.

Why are the dragons so big this upcoming season? What’s in store for audiences? Of course, everything related to the HBO show is being kept under wraps.

Kit Harington, who stars as Jon Snow in the series, recently promised upcoming episodes will “break boundaries and push past boundaries.”

“I certainly did more this season than I’ve ever done,” Harington told Huffington Post. “I think every actor on it did more action, had more action, had more scenes. They really focused it because less characters are coming in, and they’re focusing in on the existing ones, and there are lots of people who cross paths, and that’s something that I think the audience has been waiting for for a long time.”

He added: “They spent an increasing amount of money on less episodes, so it’s gonna be much bigger in scale, the CGI … we’re trying new things, experimenting with new camera techniques. I think we’re trying to break boundaries and push past boundaries in these final two seasons.”

The Emmy-winning series returns to HBO on July 16. This year, the season will be much shorter than previous ones. The seasons have always been 10 episodes, but season 7 will only have seven episodes.
