‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 Episode 2 Preview: Countdown to the Battle of Winterfell Begins (Video)

And Jaime is on trial at Winterfell for that whole shoving-Bran-out-a-window thing

Welp, that plan unraveled quickly.

In the preview for next Sunday’s “Game of Thrones,” the second episode of the show’s eighth and final season, Jaime has arrived at Winterfell to let everyone know that Cersei was totally lying when she said she’d send the Lannister forces to the North to help fight the Night King. That’s really bad news, because the White Walkers are on their way and Jon Snow and Daenerys were counting on those reinforcements from the South.

While Dany and Sansa are both busy blaming the other for trusting Cersei, there is also the whole matter of what Jaime did to Bran as a little boy to deal with. Yes, now that Bran is the Three-Eyed Raven, he knows the Kingslayer is the one who pushed him out of the window in the series premiere, crippling him as a little boy.

And in Episode 802, Jaime is on trial in front of the Lady of Winterfell and the Mother of Dragons to answer for his crimes.

On top of all that, it appears the countdown to the long-awaited Battle of Winterfell (which took 55 nights to shoot) has begun, and Jon — er, Aegon Targaryen — is trying to prepare his ancestral home for the fight against the Night King and his Army of the Dead set for Episode 803.

“How long do we have?” Jon asks, in a voiceover of the group preparing for war (and Grey Worm and Missandei kissing!). “Before the sun comes up tomorrow,” Tormund responds.

“Game of Thrones” airs Sundays at 9/8c on HBO.
